The White Hart Pub
28/04/06
Report by Jenny Semmence

Before going to this location I kept picking up on Naval links to the building. Bit strange for Basingstoke but it came through pretty strongly! The pub has an interesting mix of energies, but feels welcoming and not menacing.

Function Room

In this room I was instantly greeted by a gentleman stood on the stage area, wearing a long dark cloak down below his knees and a hat that looked like a tricorn but wasn’t as it only had 2 points on it. He wasn’t interested in interacting with us and seemed to just be overseeing what was going on.

At the other end of the room I connected with 2 children (one 4-5, the other 8ish), one child was very prominent, a small blond boy, the other energy was quite weak and I couldn’t distinguish anything about him. They were interested in what we were doing and walked around our small circle but didn’t interact with us physically.

The energy of a lady also came in towards the end of our vigil in this room and stood behind Jim, I’m not sure who she was but she was the only female I connected with over the course of the night.

I was going to attempt scrying in the mirror but wussed out because it had many hands coming out of it!

Bar Area

The Bar Area was interesting, again welcoming yet controlled. It felt like a leyline ran through the right hand side of the building, from the road through the bar. I was also met by a gentle male spirit who called himself George. He was a well muscled man, very strong physically, but a bit slow mentally. He said he was a drayman but also handled the coaches as they came in and moved/lifted cases/boxes. His track through the building was out of the female toilets, down the steps and out of the door into the beer garden.

I also kept getting feelings of sadness and being scared in this area but couldn’t find who to attribute it to until Jim also alerted me to a little boy behind the bar. He was scared in case ‘they found him’ because he had stolen from them. Later he showed me him passing over because of a lack of oxygen and was given the name ‘Adam’.

The Attic Area

When we first went into the attic area the energy was very thick and not particularly positive, upon our second trip there this had calmed slightly, allowing us to sit for awhile. The left hand room was quite peaceful, there were residual energies of children and I felt like our gentleman from the Function Room moved around up there. The right hand room was different, I found it very difficult to get my bearings in that room, swinging from feeling like I wanted to cry, to being happy, to crying again, to being scared, to being angry and agitated and had lots of images randomly being shown to me. It was a very confusing room energetically!

I was also being pulled to uncover something in the walls or floors of the attic rooms and stairs – could be quite a fun one if the rooms get refurbished.

Overall

The building was very much a male dominated one, only one lady came through which is unusual, the rest of the residual and active energy was male.

I believe that we had two things working against us on our investigation – I feel many of the spirits didn’t understand how to make contact in the ways we were asking but also that the gentleman had a pretty firm grip on things and wasn’t allowing much to take place (through the fact that it was ‘his’ or just because that’s what his personality was like I am unsure but he certainly was keeping spirits in check!).

**NOTE FROM JIM**
The feeling Jenny felt in the Attic room may well be conected with a Schizophrenic man who was held in the building by his sisters. It is rumored that these rooms were where he was held.

Secondly there is records of a young boy being hung in the courtyard of the building (now the beer garden) for stealing from the bar
